Sending Us Files?
What you need to know if you are sending us files.

Types of Files we Accept ...

  • Quark Xpress 6.1 or earlier
  • Pagemaker 6.5 or earlier
  • Adobe InDesign CS or earlier
  • Freehand 9 or earlier
  • Illustrator CS or earlier
  • Photoshop CS or earlier
  • Fireworks 3 or earlier
  • Standard Image File Formats - gif, jpg, tif, eps, bmp, png or pict
  • Acrobat PDF documents
  • Office documents - Word & Excel (some limitations apply)*

* If your artwork is in another format, please call to discuss. Where possible we will do our best to work a way of outputting your file. Unfortunately we CANNOT accept Publisher files - please save these as a PDF, if possible.

Preferred File Formats ... Offset & Digital Printing

  • As an eps file (vector) with all fonts outlined - This can be done from Illustrator, Freehand, CorelDraw etc.
  • As a collected Quark document with all picture files and font files included (if using PC fonts please call)
  • Adobe Acrobat Document (PDF File), with fonts embedded
  • Photoshop EPS, PDF or PSD files
  • InDesign CS document with all picture files and font files included (if using PC fonts please call)

Information for Designers ...

  • Please design all artwork as a single imposition or 'one up' with NO crop marks, unless arrangements have been made with us
  • Make sure all fonts are outlined or supplied in 'Macintosh' format
  • Check that all spot colours are set to spot and CMYK colours set to CMYK (not RGB!)
  • All colours for printing MUST be either CMYK process or SPOT colours - all RGB colours will come out in grey if at all
  • It is a good idea to print seperations to your own printer to check that all colours are printing to the correct plates
  • Include all picture files that have been used, NOT just the layout document e.g. placed images, photo files, fonts, etc (a Word doc is NOT a picture file)
  • BLEED - if any part of the printed artwork is to bleed off the paper (i.e. printed right to edge, with no white or paper border) artwork MUST BE supplied with a minimum of 3mm bleed. Files that bleed may incur extra costs when digital printing (we may need to print bled A4 on A3 stock and cut down, etc)
  • Artwork should be supplied TO SIZE:(e.g.) Business Card (BC): 90 x 55 mm, DL: 90 x 200 mm or 99 x 210 mm, A6: 148 x 105 mm, A5: 210 x 148 mm, A4: 297 x 210 mm, A3: 420 x 297 mm, A2: 594 x 420 mm.
  • Images should be at a minimum resolution of 300dpi for printing. Anything less, DPR cannot guarantee no pixellation of images.
How to Supply Film to DPR ...

We require film to be supplied as: 'WRONG READING EMULSION SIDE UP'

If the artwork looks like this ....

.... then the film will look like this.

Points to Remember ...

  • If you supply computer files and they are not ready to output, then extra charges may occur on top of what you were quoted.
  • If film is supplied and changes need to be made, then new film will need to be supplied. Alternativately DPR can produce the new film for you at the current rate.
  • Colour proofing is available on request and again extra charges will occur depending on the type of proof required.

* If you have any questions or problems please call. It is better to ask before the job gets on the press!
